The weekend was the 1st of July 2006. Jason, Brad and I attended in the GU.
It started at the black spur pub at ten thirty. It was drizzling with rain but there was a good turn out; about fifty people. As the pub had just been sold we couldn’t have a beer there. So about ten thirty we were off to Buxton for our first list of questions. There was lots of puzzled face as they tried to answer the questions. There was bribery being offered and people looking over each others shoulders. This was also the place for lunch. Being served was sausages, hamburgers and salad in the price of the day.
Next we were off to the Yark pub in a convoy of B&S Ute’s. Again on arrival we had our questions to answer and some drinks to have. Also Brads family and friends were there so we stayed for a while.
The last spot on our drive was the Molesworth pub. Here all the vehicles were inspected for an award in their class and the last questions answered. There was music, whip cracking and lots of mingling as well as showing off. Throughout the night there was plenty of rum flowing and beer except for us three that were drinking bourbon. Tea was the roast of the day and we were called toffees as we had a bottle of red as well. After tea all the awards and trophies were handed out. I won second in the class of best Ute with a boot. And humph won a huge Bundy bear and sold it for three bourbons. Music went on through out the night with us dancing till two in the morning.
As seasoned campers we set up a tarp before we drunk too much. It did rain through the night so we were lucky. In the morning we didn’t get up till ten and most people had left. So back in the pub we went and made coffees.
It was a great weekend, thanks Moldy.
We recommend for all to go next weekend it is run (next year). It was great.
Bear.
